I worked in a multi-hat role, as both a seasoned product designer and budding software developer, on GovDelivery's Learning Platform, a WordPress-based xAPI platform for delivering, tracking and reporting on learning experiences for citizens and Federal, state and local government employees.

Feature Development

Engineered new custom features, including detailed administrator reporting dashboards, 508-compliance for a variety of media types, and course progression UX/UI.

Product/UX Design

Conducted ongoing user experience (UX) research and design tasks, including journey mapping, user flow diagramming, rapid ideation and prototyping, and end user testing.

Agile/Scrum

Facilitated team-based Agile scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, retrospective ceremonies, design-thinking sessions, and sprint product demos.

Automated Testing

Researched and implemented an automated regression testing approach using Codeception and Behat.

As a proud member of the GovLoop Learning Team, I spent two years designing dozens of hands-on, microlearning experiences for clients across the civic tech world and Federal, state and local government. In addition to our client-facing services, we also designed and launched GovLoop Academy, a platform for thousands of government employees to gain new skills and advance their careers.

Designed and developed five 30-minute on-demand courses for GovLoop Academy covering topics ranging from Digital Services Contracting to Human-Centered Design in Government.

Internal Learning Initiatives

Founded and led regular company-wide, internal learning groups, including the GovDelivery Learning Community of Practice, GovLoop Book Club, and DC Code Club.

Process Definition

Implemented an agile-based, cross-disciplinary approach to design and media production process across several divisions within the company.

Interfaced directly with nearly a dozen clients across seven projects, including pitching design concepts, delivering regular project status updates, facilitating strategy brainstorming sessions, and final product delivery.

In addition, I also got my first taste of product development on the Digital Leadership Challenge Simulation (DLCS), a mobile game for executive leadership training.

Wrote and piloted over 60 hours of online and instructor-led training programs for large federal government clients.

Achieved DHS Section 508 compliance for one hour of Level III, highly interactive eLearning content.

Game Design

Led a multidisciplinary design team responsible for reimagining a two-day tabletop leadership simulation as a native mobile multiplayer experience using the Unity game engine.

UX Design

Established and executed a detailed UX-design strategy and product development plan, incorporating feedback from senior project leadership, UX designers, Unity developers, and project managers.

UI Design

Wireframed user interface elements using Balsamiq and Photoshop, based on data gathered via focus groups, interviews, and daylong user playtest sessions.

As a member of the engineering training team, I designed dozens of small, interactive digital training tools to disseminate information about new software and tools to the global data collection team.

Interactive Courseware Design

Designed and developed mixed method (ILT, VCT, and WBT) training programs for globally-dispersed engineers working with detailed software on complex mapping databases.

SME Collaboration

Collaborated with subject matter experts (SME) and technical trainers to ensure that training materials and strategies follow strict data specification guidelines.

Agile/Scrum

Researched, implemented, and optimized several custom Instructional Design Systems (Action Mapping, ADDIE) to align Nokia’s training strategy with its Agile development standards.

Data Migration

Implemented a new learning management system (LMS), Cornerstone OnDemand, which involved transferring all existing coursework, records, and best practices from the previous LMS.
